What is your history of community service?
I serve on the Board of Directors for Community Vision, Florida Hospital, Park Place Behavioral Healthcare, Give Kids Safe Shelter, YMCA, Council on Aging, Crimeline and Osceola Resort Area Council. In addition, I am a mentor for the Education Foundation's Take Stock in Children program. Professionally, I am co-chair of the Central Florida Regional Domestic Security Task Force, Commissioner for the Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission and Board Member on the Osceola County Investigative Bureau and Metropolitan Bureau of Investigations.
Why are in you seeking this office?
I am committed to making this community a safe place to live, work and raise a family having been born and raised in Osceola County, this is my home and I am committed to keeping it safe.
What makes you the best-qualified candidate?
I have spent my entire law enforcement career at the Osceola County Sheriff's Office. My 31 years of experience, combined with my commitment to this community and a proven successful track record as Sheriff over the last 3 years makes me the best candidate to keep this position.
Current or former elected official you most admire and why?
Abraham Lincoln. I cannot imagine what he faced as president during a time that could have changed America as we see it today.
If additional revenue becomes available where would you spend it?
Hiring additional staff and acquiring resources that would enhance current enforcement efforts in areas of Osceola County most effected by crime trends.
If revenue falls short, what are the areas you would target for cuts?
Re-directing personnel and resources to enforcement efforts such as patrols, investigation to combat crime.
Under what circumstances would you raise taxes?
As a constitutional officer, the Sheriff does not have the ability to raise or lower taxes, but if additional resources are needed to combat crime and help law enforcement efforts to make Osceola County a safer place, I would consider alternative funding sources.
