Completed Leadership Osceola County program, former Valencia Community College Board of Trustees, Charter member of Osceola Visionaries, Inc., Osceola County Fire and Rescue Board, League of Women Voters, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, School Volunteer, former Osceola 4H Club Mother, retired teacher and school principal.

Why are in you seeking this office?
I care about children and I want to make a positive difference in the decision making that affects their academic growth and social development. I will bring a broader perspective when seeking effective solutions to issues that affect our schools and all children. It is time for change!

What makes you the best-qualified candidate?
Having live in Osceola County for 42 years, I have a "proven commitment to education, children and community." As a retired teacher and school principal, being a parent and community leader, I can relate and understand the concerns of all stakeholders.

Current or former elected official you most admire and why?
The late City Commissioner, Naomi Winbush, was well respected. She was very professional and had a calm demeanor as she performed her responsibilities as city commissioner. She studied the "whole picture" to effectively solve problems that affected the citizens of Kissimmee.

If additional revenue becomes available where would you spend it?
If additional revenue becomes available, I would hire additional certified quality classroom teachers and reinstate many student achievement programs and services.

If revenue falls short, what are the areas you would target for cuts?
I would cut all employees' out-of-state travel, eliminate mileage reimbursement for non-mandated travel, and eliminate student field trips.

Under what circumstances would you raise taxes?
With the declining economy as it is, under no circumstances would I raise taxes.

What does Osceola County School system do well?
The Osceola County School System does an excellent job in providing programs and support services to students and the adult community learning English as a second language.

What does Osceola County School system do poorly?
Inequities exist in job titles, job placements and promotions among employees at the district level.

How would you help businesses in Osceola County?
I would partnership with businesses to offer part-time apprenticeships to identify potential high school drop-out students. This program could help both the businesses and students by decreasing the drop-out rate among high school students.

Rate the job performance of the Superintendent.
the superintendent did a good job maintaining open communication with the school board. He was active in implementing plans to address the rapid growth of a multicultural community.

The top issues that face Osceola County Schools is Legislative budget cuts that affect employee job security and loss of programs that provide support and academic services to improve student achievement.
